The French government should head to npower.com/fix to get a deal on the Eiffel Tower’s electricity bill as it is humungous! Built in 1889, the Eiffel Tower has become one of the most recognizable structures in the entire world and is certainly the global icon of France. Postcards and films often include the Eiffel Tower when set in Paris, either during the day or when illuminated at night.

The most-visited paid monument in the world, millions of tourists ascend the tower each year. Named after its engineer and designer, Gustave Eiffel, the tower is 324 metres high which is the equivalent to an 81 storey building! The tower held the title of tallest man-made structure in the world for a massive 41 years until it was surpasses by the Chrysler Building in New York City. In 1957 an antennae was added to the top of the tower which meant that it exceeded the Chrysler Building but by this point, neither were in the competition for tallest man-made structure.
